I need to buy an aerator very soon. Which one should I buy?!
Max budget is $4,000. I need a mid size (smaller than 36 to get through gates). Main consideration is durability and reliability. I am not concerned with getting twice as many plugs per pass, but a machine that will last a long time, do a good job, and require as little maintenance as possible.
(sorry im sure this is a common topic).
    I am considering:
    Ryan Lawnaire V
    Turfco ?
don't know much else about classen, plugr, etc..

Thanks a lot for your help

Ebay has a bunch. But if you buy used, see if sprockets & pulleys need replacing.

Good choice. Ryan V is a solid unit., but it's a man killer (not nimble)

We bought two late model Ryan IV's (nimble). But we spent several hundred dollars replacing sprockets, pulleys, etc.

Conversely, the TURFCO equivalent = never needed to replace parts.

So of I had my choice, I'd go with TURFCO. But good luck finding used ones on ebay.

I may be just a little biased, but give me a call if you have any questions about Turfco products. 763-785-1000 ext119. I have just a few (3) demo units available at a discounted price with a 2 year warranty still.

    Thanks and happy aerating!
