Im looking at starting payments via CC. I found a bunch, but they all offer something different and I dont really know what Im looking for. Basically I need to charge a list of accounts every month, but each month may be a different amount. Also one time clients would be billed at the office. We use quickbooks as well. What do you all use?

I think it's unprofessional although all my customers that use it are actually happy I do and 1 even chose me over another company because I use it. What I'm speaking of is PayPal! You can setup recurring charges as well as create bills & invoices. I personally do all my invoices through GroundsKeeper Pro and just take the payment through PayPal.

It also allows non PayPal members to still pay you using their CC.

The most popular choice other than PayPal is Authorize.net. Very secure and reputable.

    Billing comes through PayPal

Very flexible for only $4 and some change each month.

You go through a merchant account, expect somewhere around 2.1% to 3% + $0.20 - $0.30 per transaction.

    $15 - $30 monthly fee, usually a fee for accepting visa/mastercard.

separate fees for accepting/processing american express

Lets see... what other fees can I think of. Oh.. customer service fee, thats always a fun one $10 a month I think.

Payments hit your bank somewhere around 48 - 72 hours, not too bad.

If you want to keep using Quickbooks, check out http://www.quickbooksmerchantservice.com. Run by the same folks that create QuickBooks. Not a bad service when I used them but I like Landscape Management System better now.

    good luck!
