My trusty 5yr old FS-55's older style foam grip is getting trashed by my TrimmerTrap's clamp...

So I'm thinking about getting a new FS-80 or a new Redmax.
But I'm having a hard time figuring out which one to consider, the Redmax website sorta sux. (short on info)

Which Redmax is around $300 and worth buying?
What advantages does it have over the FS-80?

I bought my BCZ2600 for $289 and happened to catch it on a sale where they paid the sales tax. It is a fabulous machine in my opinion. Unbelievable power and starts easy.

In fact I figure if my truck runs out of gas or quits, no worry, I'll just hook up the trimmer to the driveshaft and keep going.

    Unbelievable machine.

    Good luck,

Notice you had to ask about the Redmax. The FS80 is known because of its reputation. You cannot, CANNOT, go wrong with it. They've been around for years. Very reliable and strong machine. I'd recommend it to anyone.

    Fubba,

The Redmax 2600 has an equally good reputation. I did plenty of research before buying mine. I did my research here and elsewhere. The Stihl and the Redmax appear to be equally good units. I chose the Redmax over the Stihl only because of the dealer.

Believe it or not there are manufacturers besides Stihl that make great equipment.

    Have a great day,

After years of using Echo trimmers I purchased a new SRM 260 with out hesitation, unfortunately the top of the machine (where I rest my elbow) gets a wee bit HOT! So when I went to purchase a new split boom tool set up I looked to Redmax's EXZ2500S.

The EXZ2500S-BC is the same machine as the BCZ2600S, both are 25.4 strato's. Great machine, good power, starts easy and runs smooth.

    Thanks for your thoughts.

I think I'll go with the Stihl. My dealer is 10 minutes away, and I've had excellent results from the FS-55.

RedMax has an old school dirty trimmer about to be on the market. They are using some clean points that they have built up. I think it will be a 23cc @ 9 lbs. That's all I know.

9 lbs sounds pretty inviting... I might have to wait for that.

Anyone else have any info on it?
