I have the Kawasaki 31 HP Motor on my Scag Cheetah. My question is which oil would give my new cheetah the best protection? Kawasaki was no help they said either 30W or 10W30. Since I will not be cutting grass in the cold & I want to protect my engine which weight oil do you Pros use?

I've always heard, do the first few changes with standard oil and then switch over to full syn. I use 10w-30. Is it a liquid cooled engine? (do a search on this subject also)

amsoil i agree, or mobil 1. 0w30, we had issues with 10w30 degrading too fast .

I use plain old Pennzoil 10w30 in all of my engines.
  10. Amsoil makes oil expressly for the small engines on our mowers. I don't know why people keep recommending other types of Amsoil instead of the oil they designed for these engines.
