I'm in the market for a split drive core aerator. I'm stongly considering a Classen model, mainly because I have some experience with them and I like them better than the few Ryan models I have used. Eventually I'll probably upgrade to ride-on model. Any recommendation, comments, experience?

Have you checked out Lesco? Good quality, good price. I work for A fertilizer based lawn care co. and also own a small mowing company. I also worked for scotts in the past and both have had lesco aeraters, along with ryan. hope this helps some, don't know if you've considered them. :)

The Lesco IS the Classen. - Both their walk behinds and their towables.

how fast is the plugr? I'm hearing good things about it, but if it is significantly slower than a rolling aerater then it is not for me.

mph is slower -- time to aerate a yard is faster.
