This is Lance again. Why did Exmark stop making the the explorer.
The Explorer was a great machine and in many ways it was very successful. The performance of this machine in some applications is still unsurpassed.
The real reason for the demise of the Explorer was the Lazer Z. A large number of our dedicated Explorer customers were switching to the Lazer Z. As the market changed the Explorer simply was no longer required in large enough demand to build it cost effectively. It's the old economy of scale. You can build each unit for less and sell it for less if you build a whole bunch of them rather than just a hand full.
