I have a few customers that have hooked up something like that for some flower pots on their decks and porches. I hate to say it, but it works fine, for them.

What if none of that drip is actually buried?

Matters zero...We call it a cross-connection...air gap only, like a Gardena sprinkler.

So why have the hose bib at all?

It is a cross-connection, even tho the current bibs are v.b's, but cannot be
tested...I'd be nervous with H.O.s hooking up big box crap to that bib.

Is that what those new add-ons are to new construction hosebibs? Little V.B.s? I've always wondered. I just end up with alot of them attached to my hoses after a few jobs:)
