What are the advantages and disadvantages of mulching over side discharging?

Grass clippings provide a great deal of nutrients for the lawn. By mulching, you help facilitate the breakdown and absorption of these nutrients. It also leaves the lawn looking better because there is no longer trails of dead grass clippings. It also saves time by helping to keep clippings out of beds, and you do not have to be concerned with discharging toward cars/beds, etc.

Most of my lawns are treated and watered so I end up cutting 3-4" off of the grass every week. I have no choice but to side discharge and sometimes double cut. I WISH I could mulch.

Yup same here. If I tried to mulch the deck would gum up in less than 1 pass. Grass is always to deep and thick here to mulch well.

Grass too tall and/or thick? Solution: Gators and take off mulch plate.

Been there with the gators. They didnt leave a clean smooth cut like high lifts do for us.
