What licenses are needed to operate mowing business in Wichita, Kansas.
I was told you only needed a Home Occupation License and that was if you operated business from your home. Is that all you need? What about advertising license? Also do you need pesticide business license for applying fertilizers, weed out, crabgrass preventer. Any help appreciated.

This is a good place to start. You'll have to get a license if you are going to be applying anything. Kansas doesn't offer a Business license for Sole Proprietorships, but if you are set up as anything else, you can apply for a Business License. You don't need an advertising license, but be aware of laws regarding advertising, i.e., don't put flyers in mailboxes, don't knock on doors that say "No Solicitation," etc., the basic stuff.

If you are going to be planting anything, you will need to get a Live Plant Dealer License from the Kansas Department of Agriculture. They are also who you need to contact to get information on becoming licensed to apply fertilizer, etc. Here's the link, lots of info on there:

    Good Luck!
