My dad wants to put some winter rye grass out for this year. Is it too late to put seed out in NC? He was thinking sometime this week. Also, he has centipede grass already. Will it come up? Do I need any kind of starter fert.?

Winter Rye will come up in the middle of a blizzard, no joke, just go for a regular perennial tri-rye. Winter is an annual and not very attractive.

same thought as above.. that is tough grass & easy... if only it lasted in the heat & did not look bad after a cut. Its bright green color is uplifting in a slow winter.
