ok so one of my wright 52s feels like its starting to die. it has about 1500-2000 hours on it. lately its been drinking oil ive been adding oil every morning. today while out cutting it started acting funny.

first it started to sound really loud with the throttle all the way up. the engine sounds so loud when its running you could hear it screaming across a development.

    it started smoking a little.

it then started to drive faster than the normal speed.

is this engine going to die on me soon i mean i havent had any other mower do this before and i take good care of my equipment. any ideas are appreciated!!

I'm no mechanic but part of your problem sounds like the governor is not working properly allowing the engine to over rev. Has it just started using oil? What hp. engine is it?
