    - does Wright Mfg holds patents on operator platform location - and other manufacturers can't place operator position between rear wheels?
-what location will be a violation on patent rights? (is it exact measurements - where it begins, where ends, how wide?)
    - what improvements can't be made without considering it like violation?
    - when this patent expired?
    thank you

I believe that Wright's patent covers all stand-on mowers. They license the patent to other manufacturer's, and the restrictions on operator position are conditions of the license.

Thank you for your interest in WRIGHT's patents. We now have 50 patents, many of which relate to the platform location but also a myriad of other factors. They do not cover all conceivable stand-on mowers.

Ariens (Gravely) is our only licensee under a few of our many stand-on patents, and under that license they may build stand-ons of several brands. However Ariens is restricted under the license to limited platform configurations and other restrictions.

The expiration dates generally are 20 years from the original application date and many extend well into the 2020's We are sorry but it would be impossible to answer your question on interpretation thoroughly and legally correct here. Its our legal policy to publically allow our patents to "speak for themselves" and they are available to read at the United States Patent and Trademark Office website. Here is a list of our issued lawn mower patents (our other patents that are not listed here relate to sulkies or grass catchers or are pending and not public):

    5,507,138 ; 5,600,944 ; 5,765,347 ; 5,809,755 ; 5,964,082 ; 5,984,031 ; 6,059,055 ; 6,085,504 ; 6,094,897 ; 6,138,446 ; 6,182,429 ; 6,189,304 ; 6,189,305 ; 6,205,753 ; 6,301,865 ; 6,405,515 ; 6,415,587 ; 6,438,930 ; 6,438,931 ; 6,442,917 ; 6,499,282 ; 6,550,563 ; 6,560,952 ; 6,625,965 ; 6,640,526 ; 6,658,831 ; 6,688,089 ; 6,862,872 ; 6,868,658 ; 6,912,831 ; 6,935,092 ; 6,935,093 ; 7,272,920 ; 7,318,311 ; 7,325,388 ; 7,364,169 ; 7,428,884 ; 7,523,795 ; 7,596,934 ; 7,607,283 ; 7,624,996 ; 7,647,754 ; 7,712,294 ; 7,753,160.
