i have a old exmark 48" walk behind mower. model v48-14k-5 serial # 60311. i have put on it 2 new pulleys on the right side ( non discharge side) and replaced the spindle and shaft unit. just this past week it ate the pulley and shaft again. the spindle shaft spins freely by hand, no resistance at all. the pulley's inside bore is badly worn, at least 1/4" larger now. the shaft where the key goes in, the one side has been broken off. i took it to the repair shop, the mechanic said that i probably was a loose key. any ideas...

Did you tighten the set screw on the pulley and torque the thru bolt (blade bolt) to 75-80 ft.lbs ?
