hey i just finished a demo/fill of a pool last November. the dimensions were around 20x50. we charged 9,500(Canadian dollars). i should note that access was limited to a skid steer for the whole job. depending on how old the pool is will determine the length of time spent on the actual demo. anything made in the 50's to 60's will usually be light gauge steel sidewalls with anchors driven into the earth. the sidewalls are the the most time consuming aspect of the job. unless you have a larger excavator then you can just go to town. the great thing about pool fills is that you can get all the fill for free. just call an other excavator and ask them to dump their fill at your site. good luck

Do you mean 9' deep from the bottom of the pool to the top of the coping (edge) around the pool? Same for the 4'?

20x40x6.5 (average between 9 & 4)= 52000 cu.ft.=192 cu.yd. Only you can decide whether to add 10% to that number to allow for inequalities in the angles that take it from 4' to 9'.
