Does anyone compost the yard waste they collect on there own property?

we dump our leaves and grass clippings in an area. Every once in awhile when we have the backhoe rented we turn it over. We have a need to fill dirt...even though its pretty good 'dirt' so we use it for that.

Yea, that is what I would like to do. I got a piece of property that I cut firewood at and I am planning on turning a corner into a yard waste compost

In my case its pretty easy...we dump it off the side of a small incline/hillside. We've been moving back a few feet a year (once its all decomposed and everything). Works well for us, charge the customer for traveling to the dump when in fact the only extra time is unloading out of the pickup (in carryall barrels) or dump it from the dump trailer. We also have a large brush pile we use for all sticks, small trees/shrubs. Again, bring in the backhoe and pack it down every once in awhile.
