Yet another Cool Season Aps? Fall cancelations...?

    ....In order to save $ for the season.

    As many of us know ....the most important applications are supposed to be later in the season.

    In my area ...as soon as sprinkler blow outs happen people loose interest in their lawns.

    Is this a nation wide trend for similar growing zones such as mine...shown in my location.

    How do you combat this with your clients...?

    There will always be customers that pinch pennys.

    At the start of the season you sell them the total application package.

    Example you tell them it is a 5 application program.

    April you tell them you are doing 1st of 5 apps.
    May you tell them now 2nd of 5.
    June you tell them it's now 3rd of 5.
    August tell them 4th of 5.
    September 5th app.

    You sold them the 5 apps from day 1.
    You keep them reminded that they agreed to a 5 app program with each app that you do.

    I agree in principle. The conundrum is using a bridge product on a thatchy lawn and organic mater goes and goes and goes like an energizer bunny with just one heavy application. The stuff I use works really well in test on my own lawn and that of clients. I can go as low as 3 or 4 APS and the lawn will thrive.

    Also I was planning on using some spread it and forget it products once lawns are up and decent. For those who insist on bagging. Those accounts will be as low as 3 APS.

    TG and Senske are pushing 7 APS here and those lawn tend to be thatchy hayfields and are a Pita to mow since they will grow 5-8" in a week in the Spring. I have several of their former clients now....and those lawns are in recovery rehabilitation now :D

    The other angle is to go light on the product and show up five times...?

    The reason squirt&fert guys "Spoon Feed" lawns with synferts is for the purpose of running the crews all season long... this is the type of "Lawncare" that helps create this type of thatch...

    I totally agree with the above poster, you try to do your best for your customers but they make the final call. It sucks sometimes when you get a place looking right only to stop. Then again i take my customers lawns personally. The "chop shop" application business seem to do much better than me because they know how to sell(ie bullshit there customers) I guess i am to honest and talk to much lol

    And that is precisely how bad off my clients lawns are who had TG and/or Senske show up 7 times a year.

    I want to deliver results for my clients and I can handle a few transgressions from an ideal program but it really feels like an exercise in futility much of the time.

    Example: Personal trainer gets morbidly obese client lean and fit but the the client fails to understand that he/she can't go back to some old unhealthy ways.

    Then peers say, "just give the clients what they want and stop trying to save the world one lawn at a time".

    I really think that proper Lawncare is one of the least understood industries by contractors and homeowners alike. People don't know what to believe and are befuddled by all the conflicting information.

    When I'm given total control of the turf, I just do what I think is correct... as long as I'm succeeding, they don't even care what I'm doing... I don't ask them if they want ,,, this ,,, that,,, or the other thing... I just do it...

    But here's the big thing... it has to be the same cost to them, or cheaper, WITH better turf,,, before you get noticed... :)

    Yes I totally agree. That's why this year I'm bundling all the stuff into equal monthly payments as per agreement. This way the spikes are leveled out and the client isn't hit with a fat bill in the spring or fall.
