    when...you subject your self vulnerable to the grumpy sarcastic cracks and giggles of the been-there-done-that'ers

    thats fine with me, i'll take the jokes with the wisdom.

    did i say take? i meant beg

    this isnt irrigation, but the irrigation guys know it, so this is irrigation!
    I havent seen this st augustine problem-symptom before:

    The dead patches have a very dry crispy thatch, amongst pieces of healthy looking grass amongst.
    But if i take my hand and sweep/brush over the dry-thatch, there is a grid of very green and healthy looking stolons/runners&roots underneath. as if only the leaves were affected........

    what is this?

    Pictures would help. Too early in the season for brown patch, might be leaf spot but that usually shows up a little differently. Do you have a fert and squirt guy that you refer work to/from? I ask mine when I run into stuff like this, if you post pictures I'll send them to him and see what he says.

    is that why its purple?

    alot of the tips are yellow, on otherwise green blades, also
