Yesterday I hear &quot;ca-THUT ca-THUT&quot; I look around half expecting to see a 30s vintage John Deere, no, its an early 80s Ford. Blue cab, tan drivers door, red bed, 30 degree list to starboard (apparently a 8 cylinder running on 3) barely see the driver thru all the coffee cups on the dash, in the back a vintage Ransomes with two planks for ramps. Guy stops a few doors down from where I was working and proceeds to &quot;mow&quot; (use of the term subject to correction in this case) the lawn. Maine plates on the truck (in CT this means the owner is either license suspended for DWI or running from the revenuers). I wish we could post pictures, this has to be the King of Scrub-dom. Guess the Escort was in the shop.<p>Bill

I saw the head lowballer in our town. Getting his lazer checked out in the shop. Looked like it had been sitting out in the rain like forever. Tires were half flat. The steering arm was floundering around. Heard the mechanic tell him what was wrong with the steering arm. I guess he didnt want(or have) to fork out the dough to get it repaired because he just drove it out and loaded it up and he was gone. He had another lazer on the trailor that looked in the same shape.

i'd love to have a truck that beat up. If I bought it nice. You gotta have pride in keeping a truck that long. my first truck came pre dented, farm truck, 88 4x4, GMC 1500, v8, Vinyl no a/c, 66k, 3300. I still miss that truck. i could beat the hell out of it, and not care. i'm not a scrub. but i would be very proud to drive a 20 year old truck. my customers would know me, and i would really stick out, especially with good work.

Well, Paddy, I just put a 30 yr old on the road. OK,, 29,, close enough, 1971 GMC 5500. I didn't dare keep track of all the hours that went into it, but it runs good, handles 5 yds of topsoil or 6-7 tons of stone and just plays wiht the 1000 gallon nurse tank I use for the hydroseeder. Best part is that there is no payment book. Hell, I'd love a new one, but almost 40 grand is too rich for my blood. By this fall she will be carrying a small highway plow and have central hydraulics for the plow and tailgate spreader

Hey that looks like my truck!! No mine has all of the panels, they are just not all whole(rust, dents)It has a muffler but the exhaust leak is pretty big so not much of the gas gets to it. Oh well It costs me 800 dollars and has a transfer case that works really good(I have thouroghly tested it, trust me!) So It does its job carrying the mower, whipping up sand hills and cruising down the hiway at a top speed of 67 and 74 with the timing 20 btc and down a hill. Started shaking at 74! Well I hope to be able to afford something better someday, probably after basic and tech training though!
