I am shopping around for a ZTR with a deck size of 42” or smaller for residential lawn. My yard is mostly flat and less than 1 acre and I will be using mulching kit.

Here are some of my options.
    Hustler sport 42” with 17.5Hp B&S $2800 (new 2009 model)
    Gravely ZT 42 with 18.5HP B&S $2500
    Toro TimeCutter Z4235 22HP Kaw Twin $2600
    Simplicity Axion 42” 21HP B&S $2600

Is it better to spend more for a better engine or better to spend more for the welded steel deck and frame? I don’t want to get into the $4000 price range where both features come together.

My vote is the Hustler Sport 42"
I would probably drop a little more scratch though to get the Honda engine. I've had my Sport for about a month now and I love it.

I have narrowed it to these two.
Hustler sport 42” with 16Hp Honda Twin $3200
    Toro TimeCutter Z4235 22HP Kaw Twin $2500
