Blades for bagging leaves?

I don't think it has anything to do with the catcher. It has always done this even before I put the catcher on. Instead of chopping up the leaves and spitting them out they don't even go under the deck, catcher or not.

I'm going to raise the blades on the spindle and see what happens, otherwise I'll use the bagger only for grass and do the leaves a different way.

Raising the blades on the spindle WILL cure your blowout problem.

Blowout is caused by the bagger filling up with air from the blades and the excessive air has no place to go but out from under the deck taking leaves with it. More air from high lift blades is only going to make the problem worse. My Toro WB has the same problem and I haven't found a cure for it. If there was someway to design the bagger so that air could flow through the bag but a screen would catch the leaves this might work. My ztr soft bagger is designed this way and it works.

if blowout is a problem, during leaf cleanup, you are using the equipment IMPROPERLY!!!!!!!!!

Bobby,

Leaf blowout IS a problem with a STOCK deck that is setup to mow grass.

Adjustments/modifications are necessary, and when done properly, stop this issue.

Raising the blades will help with blow out but will decrease the quality of a clean cut due to the deck not being able to lift the grass high enough when cutting so make sure you don't leave it like that. You can try adjusting the pitch of the deck also. Raise the front end and lower the rear. Is this a fixed deck Ferris?

I'm not talking about drastically raising the blades.

My anti-blowout baffle on my Lazer lowers the front baffle approx 1/2". That there is enough to STOP all blowout. So in effect, raising the blades UP 1/4-1/2" should produce similar results.

Remember, grass isn't growing that much....we're talking about leaves....right?

Yes, it is a fixed deck Ferris. The grass is slowing down but will still be cut a little bit.

Bobby, why do you feel the need to repeat yourself 3-4 times? If you are such a damn genius then why don't you tell me what to do?
