I prefer home depot. The service is so much better than the lowes here. Never any help at lowes. In fact I knew a guy who got put into the witness protection program. Turns out they got him a service job at Lowes. Nobody has seen him since.

I've had to take so much stuff back to Lowe's I won't buy anything big there. I've never had a problem with anything I've bought at Home Depot, including big items such as a Husky air compressor, and alot of other smaller power tools. Lowe's seems to throw returns right back on the shelf. I've gotten products there that needed assembly and the instructions had greasy handprints on them from the last person who returned it.

The Home Depot Ive been to here has 2 employees I think. One guy behind the paint counter and one cashier...both of which know nothing about anything! I'll vote for Lowes because at least they have EMPLOYEES!! lol

I guess it is what part of the country you are in. LOWES sucks I.M.O. New LOWES open up in town and I get a 10% off card in mail. I was building a shed for a customer and I go to LOEWS and ask were their sheetmetal roofing is and he says "NO" we do not carry that. O.K. where is the T-111 for sheds? "NOPE" do not carry that also he says. Well alright then I'll just get some P.T. 4x8 plywood. "NOPE ALSO" Great--bye. Nice looking stores, but I like Home Depot for lumber and nails and such, plus I really do not speak good spanish. Everything in lowes is spanish underneath the english. ME NO LIKE!!!!

The service at the Lowes near me SUCKS!!!!!!! But I continually go there because it is 5 minutes from my house. I like Home Depot better but I have to cross a toll bridge to get to it. But my Mom lives near the Home Depot, so whenever I go see her I make sure to go buy the Depot.

I dont go to neither, support your local landscape supply or tool store....everything you see and get from those big box stores is suposedly lower quality ive heard. I get all my landscape materials, supplies from one supply in my area that caters only to landscapers, and have built a good relationship with them over the past 2-3 years....for tools I would either to to Tractor Supply Co., or one of the smaller hardware stores, ex, agway, true value...those kind....help the small guy out in business, the hell with home depot, lowes and all those big box stores. Sure is fun making fun of the so calld "garden center experts" or "horticulture experts" when all they do is basically tell you waht you can read on the plant tag.
I'm with you. I always go to local small business's or farm supply stores. They send business my way in return. The big box stores could care less about me.

I choose neither. They both have pee pore customer service, if you actually price compare they're not always cheaper and if so not by enough to make me want to go there. Neither of them hardly ever have employees that can legitimately offer advice or help. If you ever have a problem with a price or product you have to deal with countless policies rather than people. If you are lucky enough to get a person it has to be a manager who usually does'nt have a clue as to what is going on and has to talk it over with other managers during board meetings held every month. This usually taking three months to come to the conclusion that they're only dealing with a person and maybe a coupon will make them happy. In the end I say support a small business that actually values its customers like most of us here on lawnsite do.

P.S. If you're wondering the the lawn and garden center is all the way to your left just past paint and electrical. Have a good day.

I go to lowes i know most of them that work there and there i this hot a$$ girl that works there to:dizzy: she makes me hot ever time i walk in there :blob2:
HAHA thats great. That is the same reason that I go to Lowes. There are a few hotties there including a few who I "know" from back in high school. My second reason is I like the color blue more than all that obnoxious orange.

I use lowes cuz its closer but really its 6 of one and half dozen of the other to me

I avoid them both as much as possible for the Lawn business try to use local small business, here locally home depot has tried to partner with Service Master; which owns True Green, they(TG) have had Kiosk's set up offering cut throat lawn service ands landscapeing (no attention to detail). Home Depot & Lowe's are like Wal-mart. Support your local small business It may cost more in the long run, but it's good forbusiness, and networking I have gotten customers at my local buisness stops never at Home Depot or Lowe's

Home Depot, but I'm bias, as a Pavestone installer.

now THERE's a good reason to goto lowes

I do have to say, one LOWES guy knows me by name...hes pretty cool...when they opened their doors, the first day ever, i went in with my 10% coupon and bought $10k of stuff to rehab a house...3 vans full..needless to say they'd never experienced anything like it...and neither had i...there was about 5 associates running around with carts as we filled em up, taking them to the front, ringing it all up etc....then helping load the van...then theyall gathered ina circle to see the grand total, and almost crapped when i busted out the trusty 10% HOME DEPOT coupon which they will honor....it saved me $1100.

i have spent around $50.000 there in the last 4 years or more. if you would see her you would know what i am talking about. she is on fire i need to put that fire out.

Odd, after reading through a variety of replies to find the heavy end leans towards Lowe's...

Perhaps it is that more people prefer Lowe's, I for one HATE standing in line, and since I always have to load the crap myself pretty much regardless (one maybe two times in 5 years an employee helped me load), I guess it's the preference of shorter lines maybe, but also the specific selection of certain things I use, location and the ease with which I can get in and out of the parking lot... I guess it really boils down to a type of customer loyalty where the exact reason is hard to nail down, but I prefer Home Depot.
