My truck isn't in pristine shape right now, obviously because of its age. I want to coat the bed and body (bottom 8-10") with a durable truck bed coating. I've been quoted $850+tax for all that coating from Line-x but was wondering if there's something cheaper out there that will last me for a year (new truck in Spring '09).

Also, if anyone has pics of their coatings, POST 'EM UP!

If you have a large enough air compressor their are a few company's that sell the coating to do it yourselfers. You will nee an undercoating gun and a knowlege of vehicle painting and surface prep. I thinI have seen them advertised on ebay or just do a google search for a diy kit.

I was thinking more of a roll-on type product. I've seen "Herculiner" and it seems like a pretty decent product. Anyone have experience with this?
Do not buy Herculiner, the one time in my life I tried to save some money and I bought Herculiner instead of LineX. I will not make that mistake again. I also did alot of body work and painting so I know how to prep a truck for the bedliner. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND JUSY PAY FOR A SPRAY ON BEDLINER.

Good Luck Mike

Listen to flykelley,
I've had other liners and there is always dirt, salt, mulch, grass, you name it, and not to mention rust under there. It's a real pain in the ars trying to power wash all of that stuff out and be sure you got it all. Just go with the spray on, you can't go wrong.

When I bought my truck I decided to go with Line-X. I have had it since the end of March and have had no issues. Looks great, cleans easily and so far very durable. Here are some pictures a day or 2 after i got it done. Also if you are serious about doing it yourself here is a very helpful link that you should read. Remember prep is the most important part.

Hey look on ebay their are a few diy bediner kits on their that are sray liners. I have talked to a guy who has used the rattle gaurd liner and he said if the truck is preped it is as good as any shop done liner. I am contiplating shooting my 72 powerwagon with it

I have never seen a do it yourself liner look as good or hold up like Rhino or Line-x...... you may save upfront but you will pay more in the end.........

Do yourself a favor and spend the money. I have an 8 x 20 trailer that has Line-X on the floor and it's going on it's 8th or 9th season and still looks new.

Spray on liners material is a two part catalized paint with polyisocyanide in it.

Google that chemical and the health risks. You don't want to mess with it to much.

If it were my truck, I'd let someone else take the health risks too. One more exposure to the isocyanates could kill me.

I'll never understand why people like a spray-on product that will still dent.

Spend the extra $300.00 and get a plastic liner that slips under the bed rails.
If you're worried about stuff sliding around in the back, get a molded rubber mat for the back. That way, when you want stuff to slide out easily, you can remove the rubber mat and go to town.

Spray on is the way to go. I have both my trucks with Line-X. When I first got the F250, it had a plastic bed thing in it, had rust spots all over. The plastic bed traps the water between the bed and plastic. The Line-X made the bed look brand new, and still does.

My buddy did the paint on one, hates it. Fell apart as soon as he put stuff in his bed.

If you get the chance to see Line-X and Rhino, you'll notice Rhino is a softer rubber. You can sink your nail into it.

Best way is actually to use both the drop in and the spray on. The drop in for the impact resistance and the spray on to keep the drop in from eating into the paint.
