Is this a good idea to put on your machine due to strain on system. I have noticed that my Hustler 2007 struggles alot more now since double stacked and a blower attached. I think I may just end up taking them off! Also don't listen to Hustler Web page of the total width of deck and blower on because it advertises 71'' but actually 74''. Only have one inch to spare to get it into my Haulin 7X16 enclosed trailer drop rear door, go slow very slow.

If it puts a strarin on your machine than take them off, as long as the blades are sharp you should be fine. The only double blades I would use are on a Dixie Chopper because they are designed for that purpose and they cut at the same level. I think Walker has a similar concept also. Are you bagging everything now? I would put the bagger attachment in the shop until leaf season.

I was thinking about running double blades, but have the new 60" Triton deck on my exmark and the way the blades are designed i can not stack them and have them be flush when you put the two together. anyone else that has these new type of blades have this problem??

Running double blades of the same size does draw a noticeable amount of power to turn. However, I've found that you can run the top blade of a much smaller size, which hardly makes any difference in power performance. I use standard high lifts on the bottom, and a smaller gator on top. For my 61in. Scag deck I have 20in on bottom and 16in blade on top.

I used them today with the wet grass and my bagger and I just was unhappy with the performance. I know in dry grass it may be better. I took off the double stacked brand new stock blades because the mower seemed to strain when hitting tall thick grass, maybe its me to picky but want to take care of the machine. Although I have to say that the cut was awesome expecially with the xr7 deck on the mower. I am just going to play it safe. As for the bagger that thing does not leave one clipping behind, but they sure do add up especially when you don't have a dump truck. I am only going to use it when neccesary after using it today, first bagger on a zero turn. Thank God the blower is off in 30 seconds. Thanks for insight gentleman!

In the spring growth spurt, I run 16" mulchers over 20" high lifts- they work like a champ, and I don't find myself double cutting very often often, nor are there many clumps to disperse with my tunnel-decked Warrior when the grass is sticky.

these mowers would have doubles from the factory if they were desighned for this . of course its bad for your mower but these folks are too dim to notice
Hmmm, arrogant lately? We're not ignorant of the risks we take. It's calculated. There's a chance the lifespan of the machine or certain components may be lower - but we feel that's an acceptable price to pay for an increase in performance regarding specific duties of the machine.

And as far as being designed for a specific task goes: are you serious? If that's a universal law, then I got robbed. Because my truck WAS designed to handle the torque and horsepower of a bigger motor - but it didn't come from the factory with one... I'd better talk with GM before they go out of business...

My truck's speedometer reads to 120mph. Soooo it must be designed for driving crazy fast. My Ipod gets REALLY loud - so it must be designed to be played that way. If man was really supposed to be able to fly, God would've given him wings. If trees were meant to be used for construction, they'd grow rectangular.

Thank you, Jack Handy, for sharing your deep thoughts...

Just put them perpendicular to each other, in a cross. There are a lot of variations of blade combos. I, myself, favor dual hi-lifts. Gives incredible dispersion and, when I have to catch the clippings, packs the bag like a brick.

I have a non powered bagger attachment coming for my Enforcer (power assist is to much for me to bite off) wonder if it would be better to use stacked blades when bagging? You say it works great to pack the grass in. Are you using a power assist bagger or non power assist.
