I have an off brand handheld blower and I want to replace the spark plug.
The plug is a TORCH J9T and I can't find a replacement.

Any help is appreciated.
Hi,

I don't have a cross reference, but I can help you get the right plug.

The threads are probably 13mm like most small 2 cycle engines have. There are 2 basic designs with different heat ranges. There is the tapered seat design (DJ in Champion) and the washer seat design (CJ in Champion).

Since most parts stores can cross Champion, I describe therm. The type of seat is easy to identify because it will either have a washer on it or not. The heat range can be identified generally by measuring (or just comparing) the body of the plug from the point where the threads stop to the place where you use your wrench to tighten/loosen. A long body is a hotter plug and a shorter body colder.

Plugs that probably replace yours are :
Tapered DJ6J, DJ8J
Washer CJ6, CJ8

The last letter or the absence of a letter is unimportant . It has to do with the tip design.

Do not get a much hotter plug such as a CJ14. The heat range determines the temperature in the combustion chamber. On air cooled motors you are fighting heat and the high heat range plugs defeat this.

good luck

It's a Chinese company, Zhu Zhou Torch Spark Plug Co., Ltd. Apparently they are big in China with more than 200 styles of spark plugs, but since they are not mentioned in any spark-plug replacement charts on the web, I guess they are not in many engines in this country. If it was mine, I'd take the old plug down to an auto-parts store and try to match it up with a Champion plug, maybe starting with the ones mowerman8 suggested. From what I see on the web (http://www.alibaba.com/catalog/10196822/Spark_Plugs.html), they look like ordinary spark plugs.

Just pop in a NGK BPM8-Y (standard in most ECHO stuff ) run it for awhile and check the condition.

And FWIW, the last letter/ tip design can be VERY important, try stickin a projected tip plug in a motor without enough piston clearance, fuggetaboutit!
