right off the bat, just want everyone to know that i am excited to be a new member to this site. although i have been in the green industry for over 22 years, there is always something new to learn.

so everyone knows that a clogged mower deck greatly reduces the mowers ability to get a crisp cut, and spread the grass clippings smoothly. i have my my guys sharpen blades everyday, and scrape clogged grass from underneath the deck. it is by far one of the most undesireable jobs there is. so my question is: does anyone know of a product to help eliminate wet grass sticking to the underneath of the deck. i have heard all the wisetales. pam cooking spray does not work. but thanks. any info is greatly appreciated.

Since we invented the MEG MO blades 15 yrs. ago and we also run a mowing service we have not had to clean decks. Also with the knives being free we can make them out of a lot better steel and also rock-well them 10 points harder so they stay sharp about 10 times longer and out wear 3 or 4 of what you are using. Then from then you just buy knives at $4.95@.

wet grass clogging underneath

Grounds Specialist,

Just curious, what type of mower(s) are clogging?

I have fluid film. Haven't got to try it out yet but I've heard that it works really great for this problem. As well as many others. PM Dano50 I believe is his user name to get a free sample of this product. Thats what I did.

fluuid film works on some stuff, but not on the bottom of my decks........ dono if im applying it wrong or?
The deck application is a tricky one. First of all, the deck has to be CLEAN before applying. It works better after a few applications. You want to put a good coat up the first few times to establish the product into the pores of the metal. Then, it just becomes more of a regular maintenance type application.

I just got my free sample in the mail (Fluid Film) and I ran yesterday evening after getting off from my first job. I first sprayed the FF on the bottom of my deck though, and the grass was tall and thick with all the rain we have had in the past week here in VA. Not a piece stuck - literally. My deck is fairly new so it had good paint to spray it on but I was completely amazed. I had prepped with my 5 in 1 painters tool and the deck was clean but it wouldn't have dropped every blade of grass the way it did without the Fluid Film - strongest recommendation from me.

I also need to get on the Edgit thread and post how happy I am with that accessory. Lawnsite has been a great service to me.
