I have just learned a bit about green barrels and think that they seem over priced, are they any good mostly they are used for leaf removal couldn't't I just use a trash can since they are a lot cheaper or am I better off with green barrels. Your input would be appreciated.

Doesn't matter if its a green barrel or a commercial grade rubbermaid barrel, they are MUCH better made. I have a few rubbermaid barrels that are going to be 8 years old and still in good shape. My green barrels are 3 years old and are good as new. Buy the homeowner trash cans and they might last 2 years. You get what you pay for! I use mine for grass, leaves, anything!

i heard you can buy them at home depot. is that true?
YES you can get them at home depot. I have got two of them and love them. Gone through the metal handles the first yesr, but now I have rope for them.Spring and fall cleanups are the only times I use these. They hold more than normal trash cans...

Our home depot sure dosn't sell them. I agree that a great alternative is the Rubbermaid Commercial cans, they are usually grey. They are HEAVY though, so once you get them loaded it may be a 2 man job getting them in a truck. At least the handles dosn't just rip off like the cheaper ones...

I've found that rectulangular storage bins, the big ones, work awesome for shrub trimmings, cleaning out beds, etc. They are low to the ground so it's easier to get stuff into them, wind dosn't blow them over (usually) and they have a lot more uses than a normal 33 gallon trash can.

Seems like my operation wouldn't need them...

All my clippings and other debris goes staight into the back of the truck or onto a tarp and on the trailer on in the back of the truck..

but they do look cool...do you guys use them for maintenance?

around here 50 gal rubbermaids are like 20 bucks cheaper than the green barrels which are sixty gallons, have a wider opening, and can take the abuse much better(except for the bottoms wearing out). I heard about them on here and they are hard to find around here, but I love them and they are worth it IMO

NJ guys FYI, got a handout from pridelandscape supply @ the show on Wednesday. They are having an openhouse on March 6th (dbl check date) and what caught my attention wasthe 60 gallon barrels for 39.99. I thought that was cheap. Lesco is selling them for 60 and I believe home cheapo is selling them for around 55 (if/when they actually carry them). BTW, they are located in south amboy. They have a few other show specials that are pretty enticing. I'm not sure if its a scam where its "while supplies last" or something like that.
