Grub control use Merit w/fert. Allectus is a great priduct. Controls grubs, chinch bugs, sod web worm, ticks, fleas, etc. Costs more than just Merit, but is well worth it. Lesco makes sells it. (although thy are John Deere Landscapes now, got bought out)

I use MERIT SYS INS LESCO 2 OZ, which cost $52 for that 2 oz bottle mainly to mix with water for Whiteflies on Ficus Trees. Same Merit for the fertilizer? That's a bit expensive instead of just going with Allectus. I did check my local Lesco/John Deere and the only one they have is ALLECTUS 0.18% 18-0-9 50%PPSCU 3%FE $32. Since this is a combo product with fertilizer, is it sold without fertilizer? Will this impact my regular fertilizer schedule in anyway? Thanks again

Allectus is available without nitrogen, as a 0-0-7 blend. I would use it with the fertilizer, but would ask for a .225% mix rather than the .18%. Use the Allectus with fert in lieu of your regular summer app. Not sure where you're located for timing on the application. Here in CT we do our grub control on/around July 4th. Check with your local ag extension sevice for proper timing.

(FYI. Merit works best when applied with fertilizer. Makes the plant want to take it up into its system,)

it may cost more per 50# bag, but I believe (depend on app rates) allectus covers more sqft than merit. switched from merit to allectus last year and the price difference wasn't bad. I believe (don't quote me) but allectus is a little more leniant (sp?) with being watered in. Were the shelf life...don't remember the technical term...of merit is not very long and needs to be watered in relatively quickly. I remember I had to apply my apps of merit in previous years with weather so it could get watered in...sometimes very difficult in the begining of summer for my area.

double check my statements, but I believe they are true.

Not sure if this is made for the public, but we are trying the new chemistry here at the golf course made by du pont its called ascelpryn. It has 90 day control of grubs and insects like hyperodes, sod webworms, army worms, beetles, etc. You can also tory provaunt, not sure if the public can access this either though.

I have hear a lot of good things about acelepryn (sp). It was just registered for use in Canada but our province is about to implement a ban on cosmetic pesticides so we can't use it . I have used merit for the past 5 years and it worked flawlessly. To my understanding acelapryn is supposed to work even better and depending on the application time and rate it has a vey broad spectrum of control. I would be using it if we were allowed to!

Check out Allectus
We used Allectus last year for the first time. Put it down in May around here and it prevents and controls billbugs (our most prolific insect in the area), white grubs, chinch bugs and many others. Got it from Van Diest Fertilizer and Chemical. Checked at my Lesco and they have it as well, cost a little more than my other supplier. They both sell one without fertilizer called Allectus G. We sold it as a seperate beneficial service.

Hello all. The only product I am finding at my local Lesco is ALLECTUS 0.18% 18-0-9. I know I prefer without fertilizer, but I guess this is my only choice. As for Dylox that is available in a 30lb bag, but even the lesco rep said that is mainly used for Grubs and not so much for fleas/ticks. Is this ALLECTUS 0.18% 18-0-9 being .18% a bad product since the .224% is unavailable? Any info appreciated. Thanks

Acelpryn is a Category 4 pesticide..virtually non toxic. (their wording not mine) It is available to the lawn care market BUT at around $800 buck for 64 oz..or a little above $5.00 per 1000 COST. It is hard for me to replace my existing products right now with it.

I have a quote in my hand from Lesco in Sioux Falls SD. Item #084886, 50lb Allectus Granular Insecticide @ $105.27 a bag. My other supplier Van Diest has it as Allectus GC Granular (RUP) 50lb @ 78.55 a bag. Where are you located?

Not bad, you will just end up with more N than I prefer to attain the proper AI.

Hello everyone. What is recommended insecticide for insect esp. Grub control? Perferable a granular product. Does Lesco have such a product? Any info appreciated. Thanks again
dont listen to these guys, they are trying to trick you.

I take a bag of granualr imidicloprid and shake it vigourously with some liquid granular bifenthrin flakes. I put it in a spreader and apply it at 38-40 pounds per 10 sq ft. Works the balls
