Newbie here with a question, been looking at the bad boy line of mowers and was wondering what you guys think of them. it will mow about four acres of grass with lots of trees and objects. the one i have now is not gonna make it another year. Also will need it to mulch too. They look pretty decent to me but i'm not an expert. Thanks for any advice.

Bad Boy Mowers are decent machines, but not apples to apples when comparing to lines like Toro, Exmark, Hustler, ect. Especially if your looking at something in Tractor Supply. Go to the makes listed above websites to find dealers in your area that will provide service to you after the sell. And you'll get a better mower as well.

Thanks for the reply, I was looking at them at a kubota dealer. Guess it was something about orange they have there.lol They had a bunch of them there even diesel powered ones. I figure the service will will be top notch as they work on them too. I've looked at hustler but not the exmark. Looked at a toro at the kubota dealer too. it was a nice mower but way to big for me. I'll find an exmark dealer and give them a look, Thanks a lot for the help,i just want to buy one that will last a while. Don't want none of the box store crap.

Understandable. What price range are looking to get into?

Then I would recommend looking at a Hustler SPORT with the Honda Engine Option or a Hustler Fastrak. Deck size?

I will give a look at them, There's a dealer not to far from me. I'll be lookin at a deck about 50 inches or better. But not much bigger cause it won't go through the fences and trees. definitely want the honda engine or maybe kawasaki. the briggs motor may be a decent one but just don't see it outlasting the mower.

The Fastrak is available in both 48" and 54" cutting decks. Take a look at the deck and pay close attention to reinforcement compared to similar models. Not to mention best warranty in the business. I think you'll be impressed.

Will do, Thanks, Didn't even think about warranty. I will be sure to compare how the decks are mounted and how strong they are. Once again thanks a million.

I see a lot of Dixie choppers around here, I'm too old for wheelies though.lol
Since it sounds like there must be a decent dealer in your area, another option probably more in line with your budget is the Magnum 2750 or the Iron Eagle 2550. Both, like the Hustler FastTrak and Sport, use dual ZT hydro trannies, and have fabricated decks; but also offer more HP and operator controlled discharge chute (OCDC) as standard. Yeah, both items could be considered to be marketing come-ons, but I'm sure many on here would attest to their usefulness.

DC offers a good warranty with lifetime on many structural components, and a 3 year bumper-to-bumper.

I've got a Dixie Silver Eagle LT2700-60D and couldn't be happier. They're available in two 50" versions (25 or 27 HP), but, since they use a true commercial twin wheel motor drive, are more money than you're looking to spend. When I was shopping arpund, DC did not offer either the Iron Eagle nor the Magnum lines. If they had, I'm pretty certain I would have been happy with either an Iron Eagle 2560 or Magnum 2760.

I wasn't real serious about buying when i looked at the dixies, but now i am, so i guess i will ease over there and give them a more thourough look, What kind of engines do the dixies have on their units?

It's kind of ironic you mentioned not being serious when you first looked at Dixie. I, after a cursory visual and quick butt-fit on a Classic, had ruled them out. In hindsight, it was probably more the dealer that turned me off. For some reason, I came back to look again, this time at a different dealer; night and day different.

The Iron Eagle models and Silver Eagle 2550 info says Kohler (doesn't say which series), the Silver Eagle 2750 is a Generac, and the Magnum says Briggs Pro Series. Some people are leary of Generac, I think more from a lack of experiance or knowledge about them. My LT has the 27hp Generac and I can easily say it's the best darn engine I've ever had in a lawn mower, and I've had machines with Kohler, Kawasaki, and Briggs.

I should have initially mentioned that I liked what I saw online, both from the Bad Boy site and from owner comments on sites like this, but I had no dealer closer than 200 miles. Also, local TSC's had not started to offer the ZT.

Happy hunting and let us know what you end up with...

Do a search on BB, you will find a TON of information and a lot of people that bash them. I did more research than I care to recall and in the end chose a BB Lightning (over a Hustler Super Z). Couldn't be happier with my choice. All the mowers listed are solid machines but again dollar for dollar you will be hard pressed to find a mower in that price range that will compete with the BB. Hustler would also be a solid choice but again you will get more for your $$ with BB. Good luck!

Yeah, the Bad Boy's and the new Dixons are pretty much the same, junk. Sorry, but I'm not a fan!
I likes me a Hustler, the fact that they are made about 60 miles from my house, and I've worked on hundreds of them doesn't hurt either:)
The new ones are SIMPLE to work on, easy to change and adjust belts, the hyrdo's are nice and simple to replace as well. Get a Honda or a Kawi and never look back.
I'm not going to diss the Dixie, it's a nice machine, but it's claim to fame is speed, sorry, there is only so fast you can hang onto a mower anyway, so the price isn't worth it in my world.

Typical statement from someone who hasn't spent seat time on one of these mowers and is a newb on these forums. Go test them all, compare what you get for your $$ and make your decision from there. You will get a lot of "my d$%k is bigger than yours" on here. It grows quite tiresome. :hammerhead: In reality all the mfg. you are looking at will provide a solid machine for your needs.
