Anyone have carberator trouble with their Stihl FS100RX trimmers? Every year mine has carberator issues, carb kit in 2008, new carb in 2009 and now it is killing when I let off throttle. It also sometimes boggs when try the throttle up I have to feather throttle. Am I supposed to kep setting the throttle everytime I use it? When it is running good it is a good strong lil machine. I think it is a piece of s*&^ myself!!!

Yea, i had the same with my FS 90R. You can try some adjusting on the carb but ultimately you will need to rebuild the carb to fix it right. Kit costs about $11.00. The rubber tip on the need wears down from the fuel and sticks.

zamma carb are junk and one reason i avoid sthil now
Agreed, my trusty stihls often need carb work. One of them, the little ms 200 went through 2 new carbs under warranty. The problems are material defects in the aluminum body, which eventually grow to hairline cracks making the carb leak air. Seems as though zama, owned (pwnd) by stihl can't even cast a little cube of aluminum right anymore.

The problem with Walbro is their high parts pricing.

I think corn gas is taking its toll. I got both brands of carb on Echo units and I have had to rebuild about 6 of them. Units running bad start hard and after putting in new kits they return to normal. I see a lot of gas lines that look like they are just gu-e and leak around the gas seal into tank.

We go through 55-60 gallons of 2 stroke fuel per week. I believe as long as fresh gas is being run thriugh the engines everyday, then it will reduce if not completely eliminate carb issues as long as you replace the fuel filter at least once a year and keep your air filters clean.

This is another thread that is about the dichotomy of Stihl products. There seems to be no "grey," either "they never give me any trouble, Stihl is the greatest power equipment" or "they are always trouble, nothing but trouble, Stihl is junk."

I don't think any other manufacturer creates this sharp distinction amongst the users. Just an observation (like previously), but without explanation.

i never have any probs with equiptment that uses walbro carbs. rog you are right with stihl -its feast or famine. some of my sthil equiptment has been bullitproff-but most has been a total nightmare . its seems no company can make an entire line that holds up or satisfies all. redmax for me comes close .
