lookin to buy first trailer , i have a dodge dakota with a V8 auto , im wondering how much your trailers weigh with equipment , i dont want to buy two trailers , the dodge is factory rated at about 6k lbs. , but they have a rep. for weak tranmissions , need it to get by for a couple of seasons with a fresh rebuild. thanks for your reply . peace to all hard workin people

Lets see...my trailer weighs 2880lbs empty, add roughly 2000lbs for the ztr, another 1000lbs for a stand-on mower and maybe a few hundred pounds for grass/debris. So that'd be 6500 pounds maybe, fully loaded. My trailer is an 83"x18'.

I think your 18' enclosed trailer is probably more like 1800lbs.... 2800lbs is like a heavy duty dump trailer and your Z is probably like 1000lbs-1200lbs, I could be wrong but those weights seem a bit high.

Last year when i had my 5 x 10 fully loaded it was 2,300. My new aluminum trailer weight 1,440. Its a 6.5 x 14 double axle. Fully loaded its probably going to be around 3,200.

He's not off by much. Not all trailers are built the same so give him the benefit of the doubt and say his trailer is 2880. The JD ZTR mower he has is about 1500 pounds wth fuel but he often has a big heavy bagging unit on it. A JD stander is about 1100 pounds with fuel.

Nope they are right. The trailer is an open trailer, dry weight is 2880lbs...I have the CAT scale weight slip to proove it and the trailer is 83" between the wheels and has an 18' long deck. The ztr is a John Deere, roughly 1400lbs for just the mower, just over 300lbs for the bagger, 160lbs for front ballast, plus a 11.5 gallon tank of gas which is 92lbs...added together that is 1952lbs, I rounded up to 2000lbs.

Those weights are correct though.
