Last year when I was running a crew I went through 13 lawns(not small) with 1 spool from one of our FS 90's. My technique is letting the tip cut only and not the entire string. 0.095.
Bingo...........we have a winner!!!
That is correct. All new users will slap the whole line on the pavement edge or the walls and fences. This will split, break and throw more line in the toilet than knowing what you are doing.

Kudos Koester.

.95 on my Stihl combi and .8 on my Hdwe store weed eater. I like the feel of the small line on my weed eater, you can really 'feather' into places with that thin line, even brush up against trees, without doing much damage. I have a place for both sizes of line.

I've tried triangle, square, star, twist in .80, .95, .105 - for residential I like .80 star on a shindaiwa speed feed head. Anything over that is overkill and leads to collateral damage. For doing 8ft tall poke sallet and bamboo patches, I'll go for the .95 or .105 square on the factory Stihl head, face shield. I call it the "Salad Shooter"

Running .105 now. Was running .80 last week. The 105 isn't lasting any longer then the .80 for some reason.

I usually use .095 kevlar reinforced line and it cuts great. But when I bought my robin trimmer it had some kind of red .095 that lasted me all season long. One spool! I couldn't believe it! I wish I knew what type of line that was I'd buy that in a heart beat!!

Thats sounds like the string i use. Arnold, extreme titanium. .095 Lasts FOREVER

What a wimp!
whatever, for all you folks who think this string is better than this other I got news,
trimmer string isn't sold by what color, which shape, how long or how thick it is.
It is sold by WEIGHT.

All of it, every last piece of trimmer string you ever bought, buy and will buy, is sold to you by how much it weighs.

Which is lighter, a pound of feathers or a pound of stone?
Answer: a pound of .080 contains just as much plastic as a pound of .095

The 080 wears faster but you get more of it.
It all adds out.

Round, square, thin, thick, green, red, gay or straight.
It's all the same, they make it in different flavors but that's so they can have the sheeple bamboozled.
