I have a Walker MT23 with the 23HP Kohler V. This mower has only 350hours on it and recently it started running very rough. I checked the oil and could see and smell gas on the dipstick. I changed the oil and filter and ran the mower maybe 30 mins it ran fine and there was no sign of fuel in the oil. I came back later and checked the oil again and you could see on the dipstick it looked like there was 4 qts of oil in it, but it was fuel mixed with the oil.
I'm thinking this is the fuel pump as I have heard this model has had trouble with the fuel pumps. You can see gas trying to escape around the gasket on top of the valve cover where the fuel pump is located also.
Any thoughts as to this being something different than the fuel pump?
