I have a John Deere 727A mini frame Ztrak. Does anyone else have this same mower or the 717A, that you use for commercial mowing? I was just curious if these mowers are as well built as the other 700 series like the 737 and the 757. I have seen many of the 757's out there with 2,000 plus hours on them, but it seems like every mini frame model I see don't have nearly as many hours on them. So I am wondering if they have different components on them and are not built to last as long. I have 350 hours on mine and I know it should be good for a while yet, but I don't want to start pumping a lot of money into it and find out I should have traded. I always perform all maintenance on it, and it has not give me any problems yet.

Yeah, they are commercial grade. I have two 727A myself and not a problem to date. Bought them brand new the year before 800 series came out. I don't do mowing full time but one has around 550 hours the other has 350. Not a lot of hours compared to some but no signs of slowing down. Mowed some serious stuff with those as well. Not that many people purchased them according to my dealer. They went straight to the 737 with 54' deck instead of 727A with 54". 727A is a really underrated machine in my opinion. Small, light weight, cuts great. The Hydros and steering on those 727/717 models are the smoother and better than the bigger 700 series too. Only knock on them is that they could of used a little more HP but 23 isn't bad. Plenty of power for "normal use."

lawncarenoobie, How often do you change the hydro oil in yours? I notice mine always looks like a milk shake when when I look under the resevoir cap. I change mine every spring before I start the season and it seems to help. Have you ever noticed this on yours? From my experiences, when oil looks milky like that it means that there is moisture mixing with it. Don't know if it is condensation or what, but I do not have any leaks that I have noticed.

I have noticed that milky weird look before in one of the machines before. Didn't seem to effect the performance. I just go by the manual when I change the hydro oil. I think it is every 500 hours? I just bought a 5 gallon bucket of the recommended Jd oil and changed it this spring, first time. One was due and the other had another 200 hours to go but I figured I might as well change that too. The filters were changed as well.
