I am thinking about getting a grass catcher for my gravely 36g walk behind. It is the newest model with the fixed deck. What are some good options out there? i want it to do final cleanup after leaf removal and to do some bagging in the spring.

You can't expand their baggers, they are usually cloth, and have a weird bracket/plate which means it makes dumping ackward, get a grass gobbler, they are metal, and more importantly they are expandable. and last a while if you take care of them. Probably cheaper too. I know the Gravely dealer by me carries them.

If you want something lighter, I'd get an accelerator. They are made of aluminum.

i found an accelerator today at a good price used. It looks really nice and it is the xl version. I am going to look at it tomorrow. the only problem is, there is no bracket with it. I am hoping the accelerator catchers are a universal type catcher and i will just have to buy the bracket for my mower.

picked up a used accelerator today but it does not have a bracket with it. Now i am on the hunt to see if i can get an adapter to fit my mower. I know i was taking a chance on buying this not knowing if it fits, but i did. Here are some pics of what i have. does anyone know if they make a bracket that will adapt this to my mower? gravely prowalk 36
i cant seem to find any mounting instructions or pics of the brackets anywhere online for accelerator.

I purchased the metal catcher that is sold by J Thomas, sold as a Rackem. I use it on a 40" Toro with a Turboforce deck and have been very pleased with how it works. You may have to purchase the mounting brackets separately (as I did) even though it comes with an assortment of hardware for mounting. It was less expensive than the factory catcher and appears to be well made. Cleans up easily with a spray from a garden hose after collecting wet grass also. Don't know if it would suit you but it is worth a look.

i have both a steel catcher and the plastic grass packer. I agree the steel one, unless it's the small one, is crazy heavy after you fill it with wet grass. I'd say it weighs maybe 20 or so empty and probably close to 50 when it's full. I used the grass packer for the first time today and i was impressed with how well it worked for dry leaves. it came witht he mower i bought yesterday and is alot lighter than the steel one. You could look into them if the accelerator doesn't work out.
