Just wondering how you guys charge your residential customers for lawn care. Do you guys have them leave you a cash/check each time you mow or do you provide an invoice at the end of the month for the work done.
Agreed and in advance for monthly customers and due upon receipt for one off jobs and weekly accounts. No credit issued since I am not in the banking business.Monthly unless they rent/lease there home. They pay per visit, this helps minimize losses from renters who skipped out in the past.
How is weekly for hacks. Alot of my elderly clients will only pay weekly. If they miss me they call me worried about how they missed me. I think your logic is flawed there buddyMonthly. Weekly is for hacks. Don't be a "mowing for beer money" hack. Be professional.
Hahahahahaha! Oh, OK.Monthly. Weekly is for hacks. Don't be a "mowing for beer money" hack. Be professional.

I agree. Most of my accounts are on monthly billing and pay within terms. But there is always a handful of stragglers that are late with payment. These accounts will need to prepay or have payment at the time of service if the late payment penalty does not work. I am not offering monthly billing to many of my new clients. If I leave an email or talk to a straggler about the late payment, it is always the same b.s. "I have your money blah blah..........". That is the problem, you have my money and I don't.

Yea really. Sometimes I feel like a hack for offering monthly billing.Hahahahahaha! Oh, OK.
I've been hired to replace several "professionals" because I do better work and present myself in a professional manner.
There are PLENTY of "hacks" out there with trailers filled with equipment that bill monthly. If accepting my pay at time of service makes me a hack, I can live with that. All while not spending any time, or money billing people. (Saves me money for beer!)
(I don't drink)
Just to be clear, I wouldn't "bill" anyone WEEKLY, that is insane.I bill monthly. I think it is easier to do it all at once rather doing it every week.
What part of LA are you from?Monthly for most clients, mainly cause no one is home. Renters prepay a month in advance, or pay as we go. Pretty much everyone is on contract with me. I split all of my monthly contracts and bill them either on the 1st or the 15th. I hand deliver to my renters. This pretty much keeps checks/money comming all month long. If after 10 days, i havent recieved a payment from a client, i bump there next service until after 5pm. This way, i am there working when they get home and gives me a chance to collect. Havent had a problem since i started doing it this way two years ago.

They PAY me weekly. When I finish, I pick it up - simple.
99% of the time I don't even see the owner, the payment is where they tell me it will be.
I hope you mean that you get the money when you are there doing the work--its an added cost of time-
otherwise, driving around and knocking on doors is almost like begging people to pay you what is owed...its beneath you...they ought to be bringing the money to you-you worked hard enough doing the work.
I like billing monthy-doing it all at once....
Collecting at door was always fun...
Them-'remember, i paid you last week?'..
ME--no, that was the week before..
Them-'no, no, the week before i went to Walmart and I remember paying you for two mowings'.
ME-No, that was for three weeks ago when you didn't pay becasue you were gone also-
Me-do you have the check or reciept ?
them-'Oh, I don't have it'
ME- we'll here is the bill that I left on the door....did you get the bill I left on the door?
I could go on and on--
