Hi everyone, this is my first post. I spend some time on here but haven't had much to offer as I just started my business last year. I only have a about 15 regular accounts right now and the occasional odd job which is pretty good considering last year at this time I had 2. Word of mouth is the best advertising by far ! Anyway, on to the subject. I have two mowers, a Bobcat 48" belt drive wb and a new Scag Tiger Cat. I have been looking for a faster way of doing leaves by myself, last year was a BR600, tarp and a rake which was fine with only a few jobs but I need to be more efficient this year. I have been researching the different bagger systems for my Scag. The Scag bagger is pricey but nice, be
lucky if it paid for itself the first year, Peco looks top notch but very expensive and then there is Protero. I was ready to pull the trigger on it(2500.00) to my door then I did a google search on reviews, so glad I did. There is a ton of negative posts regarding the company, their lack of customer service, not being able to get parts, no returned phone calls, wrong or missing parts shipped. The list goes on and on. I'm sure there are lots of people who have had success the them but for me, no thanks !! I have been burned before by "shady" business practices. Anyway, thanks you to everyone who posted their experience with the company, you may have saved me a lot of headaches and for anyone else considering them, be careful !! Think I will be opting for the Scag bagger.

The scag OEM bagger is a no brainer. However there is a guy on here that runs a ton of the protero units on his Hustlers and has had good luck I believe. I have always been interested in the unit that takes 3 trashcans instead of soft bags.

As already stated, the OEM Scag kit is a no brainer. It will do a better job without a slave engine and added fuel expense. They are "designed" to custom fit the unit unlike after market units that come all but universal. I have a Cub (same mower as you) with the OEM kit. I don't know what I'd do without it. If you were ready to drop 2.5K on a after market kit, then I can't see why you wouldn't go the extra mile and buy a OEM kit made to fit perfectly to the mower.

That's what I'm leaning towards now. It was my first choice but the Protero shipped is 2500.00 vs the Scag Clamshell at 2850.00 + 8% sales tax makes it almost 3100.00. 600$ stretches the budget but if I can't get a part for the Protero I'm losing money.
Also the PV18 I was looking at doesn't have a separate engine, belt driven just like the Scag. Glad you're happy with yours, thanks for the input.

No sense in buying a piece of equipment if you can't use it. I haven't had any issues with the OEM kit. The tube has gotten a few holes in it over the last few seasons. Sticks and other debris poke through. I just rapped it with black duct tape it the straight position and it's held up so far with no holes.

Guys like that, that have bought a bunch of them tend to get good support. That goes for everything really. I looked at the protero also but I can get the hustler system for only a couple hundred more.

I had ordered The PV-212 and was told it would take 3 weeks to deliver. After 3 1/2 weeks I called for a status update and was told my bagger would ship at the end of the week, and I should receive it the following week. That week had come and gone. So I call them again (on a Monday) for the status on my bagger. I was then told that they could ship it out by the next day or I could get a refund. I chose the refund. I was then told the credit would be put back on my mastercard. So, a week pass, then another week. I called again and told them I still haven't received my refund. He said he didn't know what happen, but he was working late and would check it out and give my a call back. He never called back. There website looks professional and I assumed they do a lot of business. But the company actions make me think otherwise. I bought a basket that connects to side of my mower deck and it holds 4 1/2 bushels I have to empty it manually, but it works fine and fills up pretty quick so bought two extension for my basket from Packem. I now can collect up 12 bushel grass, pine cones, pine needles, and leaves. Total cost about 600 dollars vs 2400 dollars. I completely satisfied with this catcher system. I was thinking about getting the PV-212 in the future but I can't do business with Protero, they're unreliable.

Riven, Did you get your money back?

My name is Roland Jackson. I ordered a Protero pv18 the first part of September 2016. I have nothing but positive comments regarding the pv18 and my experience with Bob. The pv18 is the perfect grass catcher. Had I listened to the negative comments and not ordered, I would have lost out on this wonderful labor saving addition to my lawn mowing. Just know that I am SO happy and satisfied with my purchase. If you would like to visit with me, I can be reached at roland.jackson1@gmail.com.

Just spend a few more and go with the peco! That's all we run on the scags! Doesn't Rob power even though I get the biggest engine avail on them and just seems way better then oem baggers after having compared em both!
Roland Jackson here. I have a Hustler FastTrack and it has plenty of power to run the Protero just fine...even in heavy grass. Not to discount your thoughts....but looking at the Peco...I am not impressed with the design. ..especially for $800 higher cost. I will continue to recommend the Protero. I am very happy with mine!
