Towing a gooseneck with isuzu npr?

How are the NPRs at towing? Thought about going the flatbed route, that way i can tow my open landscape trailer. Even thought about putting a recessed gooseneck hitch to tow my 25' deckover. So lets here the input from yall who have towed with one.

should be very maneuverable, not sure about the power for the npr. i would guess a manual transmission would be a must. with your highest mountains to climb being the river bridges it could be doable.

My concern would be enough horse power for pulling, but I don't think you'll be able to run 80 mph either.

my old F350 diesel probably has less HP and torque than the Isuzu, I regularly tow 12,000# with it. I think you will be fine in traffic and where it's flatter roads. I don't see much problem keeping up hwy speed under those conditions. you wo't win any races but will get there. Also, I believe the Isuzu has a higher rear end gear ratio which will work in your favor.

I saw a company last fall in orlando with a crew cab isuzu and pulling a fifth wheel trailer behind it similar to a tractor trailer setup. The trailer was about 25' long, 8' wide with a ramp like a landscaping bed. It had large ZTR's front to back. It also had a single 12K axle with dual wheels under the trailer.

What year of NPR are you talking about? We have a 93 with the 3.9 diesel, 12' flatbed that we use as our lawn rig towing our 7x16 enclosed. It can be slow going, especially up hills. Our 2001 NPR Spray rig has the 4.8 diesel and has much more power.

We run 3 NQR (heavier duty than NPR) dump trucks and haul mulch about 500 loads per year each truck. They will haul 15 yards with no problem. We pull our 22' trailer and a 287 Cat Skid steer. Will not win any races but pulls good. All you can get empty is about 72 mph and loaded with trailer about 65. we get depending on which truck 8-10 MPG. We really like them for deliveries. They run non stop March to July.

if its gas it will possibly be decent.....the 4 cal. diesel is gutless. The nearest wholesaler, who sees hack companies show up with them 100 times a day told us to not get one due to lack of power while hauling only plant material!!! I have driven one, and while mpg is great, would not use one to hual a gooseneck.

I would only use one for cuttin grass, snow plowin, or general landscape maintenance. NEVER for heavy hauling.
