How much is that doggie in the window?

What is the average pay for someone with ZERO experience coming into this field? How about someone with, say, 2-3 years experience? and up? I'm not refering to starting a new business, I'm inquiring about hiring some help.

Seeing the cost of living in NY city is TWICE that in Des Moines, it may be a little tricky to nail down a number.

We pay about:

$9 to start, $10 after 90 days.
$12 with experience
$14 for experienced foremen.

Hey Jaclawn ..

I know what yer saying .. I mean, if your charging 22-25 bux a lawn, how could you possibly pay more then 15-16 or even 17 bux an hour? You'd go out of business depending on how many lawns you could cut in that hour.

Stick9 You have to be charging more than $22-$25 per lawn.

My thoughts on FOremen. They should be incharge of a crew of laborers. They should be responsible for running all field aspects of the job, including: Truck loading, Truck inspection, mower inspection, maintining crew supplies, recording employee time, recording job time, staying on schedule/modifying the schedule, basic customer interaction, interpert and act on customer requests/concerns(within reason), report to his surervisor...

WIth a good foreman, you should only have to worry about the business aspect of things, billing, quoting, running the business.

A foreman that can do all that, and still be a productive field worker, deserves a nice paycheck.

I think I'll come work for you. It's hard to get more than $14 an hour in the factory with my tool & die background.
I'd love to make 14-18 an hour with no overhead!

If a guy has 6+ yrs. in the field, he should have his own biz by now! This is one of the easiest fields to get into as far as experience necessary. You could work for another guy for 2 yrs. & have enuf to at least get started on your own. The more you learn, the better off you'll be.
