I believe it is the price given to State of Ohio government agencies. It may well be the same price. I know a Scag dealer that has city governments buying Scag mowers from him that I cannot get the same price. He wouldn't be selling them at the same price he pays for them..

So that means that the dealer pays even cheaper than those prices. I just cant believe the mark up on these.

A dealer pays a certain cost for the mowers. The more they sell, the lower the price. They pay a floor plan price. They take on the Scag line. They have to display them. So they pay 1/12 of the price of the mowers, per month, plus 2% interest. Some dealers, that sell a lot of mowers, get 90-120 days of no payments to sell the mowers. They just pay the 2% interest.

That's so true
A small time dealer said he could be anybody price.
I price a 72'' mower and bought it at a big dealer.

So I told the small time dealer the price I paid and if he could match it I would buy one from him. He called me a liar. He said no way I could buy one for that cause he said that was lower then his dealer price. Told him give me his fax number I would send my bill of sale. He hung up.
Where I bought mine they was 2500 cheaper then anybody else. and the next year I bought another one for the same price.

My dealer said they want to sell atleast 3-4 mowers per day.
Dealer that was near me is lucky to sell 1 per month
I might get a better deal then most since I bought total 5 mowers from the same dealer in 10 yrs 3 of them in last 3yrs.

This thread makes me simultaneously laugh  and cry .

it sounds like a homeowner/employee talking about how much LCO's 'make' vs. what it "really costs"

Customer:
'Did you know they ONLY pay their guys $12/hr?? and they are ONLY here for 22 minutes?? my lawn should ONLY cost $5 to cut!! They are making a KILLING at $35.00!!!'

Employee:
'I can make $25 per hour cutting grass instead of getting paid $12/hr!!! I'm going to that customer who I cut for $35 for the other guys and charge $12.50 because Im there for less than half and hour, and Im going to make a KILLING!' :p

Does anyone know what a Snapper Pro 36 inch ZT with a Kawasaki would cost the dealer? I am interested but not at the prices I have been quoted.

If you want to buy a unit for dealer cost all you have to do is buy a building, hire a sales staff, pay for marketing to advertise your products, hire shop employees for your warranty claims, stock parts and supplies for all units to be sold, hire a customer service staff, figure out how many units you will sell in a given year, invest tens of thousands in inventory or start a floor plan to make payments (and hope you hit your specified sales quota), oh and learn to love getting beat up on your price daily by customers like us. If you would do all that and sell them to me for your invoiced cost from exmark I'll take 10 today!! Take it from me I have been down this road (general manager at a car dealership) and if they can't make a grand or two on their $10000 investment it just isn't worth it. How much do you make off that lazer in its lifetime...if it's only a couple grand get a new job you would be smarter to flip some burgers. Whew rant over
