Would it be a good idea to just go ahead and WD40 them straight out of the package? I picked one up today.
It wouldn't hurt any and when the bottom piece wears out you can buy just the bottom piece from stens I buy them by the dozen the part # is 385-108

I just tried to install it. It will NOT screw on. Watched youtube videos.....nada. It will not go on for nothing. It just spins and spins.
You need the gold adapter I think I always buy the stens version it comes with all adapters with stihl you have to use a spacer.

Yeah I got the universal kit with the various adapters and the spacer for the stihl.

The guy on the video mentioned his unit stripped and he had to get a new one. I think I got a bad one as well. There may have been a bad batch. I got mine at Home Depot.

I've never had a bad one and I've bought probably 20 or more of these when I get to my shop I'll look at mine and see what spacer to use and I'll see if I can do anything to help you

I've had one lying behind my seat for a year. Can't figure out how to mount it to a Stihl. The instructions provided in the package are ridiculous.
The instructions are useless. There is a few youtube videos you can watch. I did exactly what the video said...it will NOT screw on.

Yeah, I do. I'll check that out. None of the youtube videos I watched shown them changing any nuts.

Thanks for the help. I'll let you know if it works out.
