Hi there,

Looking to buy an FS250. I live in Canada but can have shipped to my daughter's place near Buffalo, NY. Can you recommend a bricks and mortar store or an on-line site? Not necessarily looking for a rock bottom price, but don't want to pay full retail if I can avoid it.

Thanks for any input.

Good luck finding one at a discounted rate. Plus they stop producing them. They are worth the money….to me :)
You're kidding. They don't make the FS240 anymore? What has taken its place?

Mine was destroyed in a fire. Best trimmer I ever had. Had it for about 10 year.

Are any of the Huskies recommended?

Replace the engine on you trimmer with a 40 or 50 plus CC engine.
Just bought a FS110. Biggest they had in stock. Nice trimmer but can't really spin .095 line in heavy grass like the 250. Nothing bogs down the 250.

What brand of line do you guys use?

I had some blue Gator line that got burned in the fire, too. So did my JD737, my trailer, and my Santa Fe. Four weeks ago today.

They discontinued the FS250 and replaced it with the FS240. The FS240 is a 4 stroke heavier trimmer/brushcutter. I purchased a FS250 bike handle last year and loved it. So i decided to look for a FS250R loop handle. I called 2-3 dealers and no one had one. Finally found one at a ACE hardware store an hour away.

I bought one used for 300 bucks, and I LOVE that thing. Like was said previously, the FS 250 will go though tall grass with 095 line like a hot knife through butter! I also have a KM130, with the straight shaft trimmer head, and the FS250 IS STILL KING in my book. The 130 is good, don't get me wrong, but the 250 is the ticket in the jungle!

That's not correct.:nono:

The FS240 is a strato-charged two stroke just like the FS 94.

On my FS250 I use .95 line for lighter duty trimming of say finer grasses. .105 line for generally doing it all...is a good compromise for life and cut. Then .130 line for the knock down punch when things are out of control. Then have a brush blade to deal with small trees and thick stemmed weeds
