Getting ready for fall svcs today and was thinking of building a new leaf box on my dump trailer. Let's start a thread of what people have build, what they wished they had added to it or not, what materials did you build it out of, vented top or sides, etc. Let's maybe even see some pics. I'm interested....

So this is my first year doin fall clean ups, I bought a 14' trailer, what I used is the panels used to cover a large flat bed semi trailer, the slide in pockets using aluminum posts so I can use it as dual purpose trailer. It's not a dump so still designing a way to get leaves out

Build a wall grab a 4000lbs winch and rig it up. You'll lose about a foot of the front of the trailer/leaf box you build but that wall and winch will dump the leaves out in no time

I'm thinking of buying a leaf tarp hoop system for my dump. I'd like to get one for the easy dumper but they are pricey. I've used ply wood walls and they do fine just heavy.

This site gets this question a lot. How to get leaves out of a non dumping truck/trailer. Answers are always the same.....
-turn your vacuum around
-load handler
-pallet stood on end attached to a chain.....drive away
-same as above but with a tarp on the ground instead of a pallet

Or,

Invent something new and sell it

When I used to have to unload a none dumping trailer we used to have about 8 tarps. Lay one out on empty trailer floor. Throw x amount of leaves on then lay out 2nd tarp then load more etc etc. when dumping 2 guys could unload avg a ton of leaves in about 5 mins. Mind you that was loading by hand too we didn't have a leaf loader.

Figured I'd share that method if anyone reads this thread that have neither loader or dump trailer and is hauling away. The method was pretty efficient for an all by hand approach

The pallet works good. You can make it bigger if you have a large trailer. Can also use a chain

Tarps always seem to rip

No prob. Thought I was gonna need backup on some places in B.S. subdivision out there, but I beat the rain. We're working like it's April again...the rain is keeping it hoping. I hope this thread takes off. I want some good ideas..

I have a large dump trailer with barn gates on it. I am leaning towards making a fully removable box that I can lift out with one of our farm tractors. Just trying out ideas for a top vent, a tilting flap on the back when I dump and a way to hook the box to my d rings in the floor.

Good idea. Smart way to do it. Cheap, efficient, and effective.

Where are you mounting the loader?

I am mounting a weld on 2" bumper hitch to the A frame between the front of the dump bed and the A frame box with the pump, hydraulic pump, and battery. My loader is mounted to a plate that slides in the hitch. This way when I dump, I do not have to swing the motor away. I am using a smaller 10hp since I will not be using this for a lot of leaves.
