I can't get this machine to cut very fine bladed fescue worth a crap, what baffle setting are you guys running to cut this stuff cleanly? I'm getting a partially uncut portion on the left side of deck on yards that my aerocore cut cleanly. Right now have factory blades on and baffle in factory position. Not impressed at all with this deck I expected it to cut cleanly, discharge isn't what I expected either which is the main reason I purchased this machine

Mine with the 61 velocity was initially not that great. I realized the tires were at 24 psi. Lowered it but Then the blowout was still crazy and cut quality was lacking. . I put the baffle all the way down and it made a dramatic difference.
Not having the turbo baffle would definitely impact it

The deck is level and no pitch, set up according to owners manual. I've tried 1/4" pitch and it doesn't change cut. Middle blade is 1/4" higher in front than other blades but same in back. Mine did not have turbo baffle

Not to intrude in this post but this cutting issue has me thinking. I cut fine blade KBG on my lawn and I'm thinking about a 60" Tiger Cat with a mulch kit.

I heard these Velocity decks are the Cat's butt (no pun intended). So is this one of those "certain situations" where the Scag deck doesn't cut well?

there are other issues with my deck going on which should be solved this week, the middle blade is not the same height/pitch as the others which may be causing some of my issues. the demo machine i ran cut everything great

I tried high lifts which didn't seem to help at all, just robbed all my power, forget going up a hill in any tall grass

What specific machine do you have? What about the engine? What size deck?

Just curious....I am going to be purchasing 52" tiger cat with the V+ deck and Kawasaki 22HP within the next month. I cut A LOT of fescue and bermuda.

I notice power loss on mine, Cheetah 52" with high lifts and a 23.5 horse Kawi, I can usually deal with it though. Tall grass gets a bit difficult but nothing double cutting won't solve. I'm definitely going with a bigger engine next time around.

What do you think about G6 Gator blades on a V+ deck? I definitely don't want to suffer HP loss with a 22HP on a 52" deck.

After reading the manual scag recommends raising the baffle for fine grasses. I put mine just above the middle and it has helped a lot. I also pitched the deck 1/4 inch to the front to help with blow out. I am still using high lifts but it has helped a lot. You may have to experiment but once you have it dialed in you will love it

Never used them, always have fun mid or high lifts only. 22hp seems a bit light.

That is the only thing I am weary of. I was only given 3 options by my local scag dealer. It was the Kawi with 22HP, the Briggs Cyclonic(which I have read that might not be a great engine) and the Kohler EFI(which is $1000 more for only 4 more HP) but from what I read the torque curve on the Kohler is the same as the Kawi. So I am not sure what I want to do.

Last fall I spent days trying to adjust my deck the way the Owners Manual instructed. I could get both sides the same but middle blade was higher in front. I ended up junking the owners manual and finally got all three blades the same. Don't ask me how cause I don't know. Have you double checked to make sure your RPM's are correct?

There's more to HP than just the number. EFI doesn't drop RPM like a carbureted engine; EFI instantaneously feeds the fuel when needed. The Kohler is way stronger than the number indicates. I'm running mine on a 60" deck with the H/L blades and am NOT wanting for more power. I'd buy this engine again, in a heartbeat.
