Hay guys I'm looking for a new fert spreader and im looking between the lesco 50lb spreader or the earthway c22hd. They both seem really nice but not sure because I've never used either one.
One more question I have is on the earthway it says there is an ev spread shut off system so is that able to shut off one of the holes so material dont come out of one of the sides for doing around the edging? It's hard to understand what that all means on their website.

I'm not a pro so I don't need stainless and I will be washing it off after every use.

With the Lesco, the adjuster stays where you put it. With the earthway the sliding adjuster knob is right by the handle that you start and stop the flow with. Each time you start and stop the flow, you are very likely to change the spreader calibration. The stainless steel does cost more. How many spreaders did you want to buy in your lifetime? If you will be checking out in a few years, buy the powder coated one. If you think you'll live ten or more years, go with the SS.

Their Even Spread System is used to assure that you have the same pattern and density of fertilizer on the left and right side of the pattern--thereby avoiding streaks and uneven green.

I do not see an edge deflector system. C22HD, so I assume Earthway does not off such a setup.
So I guess you are right--if you want to prevent fertilizer from throwing into the flowers and left on the concrete walk--either there is no way--or you must use the Even-Spread System. Stop, change the system, apply along concrete, stop change it back. Then continue.

Jeff Kendall, a member here, is the sales manager, maybe he can explain Earthway reasoning.

Myself, I would prefer a system that is adjustable from the handle. Cut off the left. Or change the pattern for evenness on the fly.

Lesco. Earthway is just not a good quality. Lesco spread pattern is weird, throws heavier to the left, but simply adjust to it. The Lesco 50lb will last a good 5 years easily, the 80lb Stainless model will last until you're to old and feeble to push it anymore.

Don't forget. The Scotts/Andersen is probably the best spreader. It has the patented Helical Cone pattern adjustment system. But Earthway just bought the rights to it and the factory equipment to build it last month.
I don't see for sale it on their website. You could call them.

But their website also lists the multi-tray adaptable system spreader that adapts to spreading salt, seed or fertilizer, your choice.

Keep in mind the c22 and the c22 in stainless 50 pounder takes up a lot less space on your truck, AND it weighs 20 pounds less. Easy push. The gears are probably stronger--5 year guarantee.

Lesco SS. I don't do apps "For Hire", but I love it for my lawn and the 5 family member's lawns I do.
