Looking for help.

I have a 26hp Kawasaki (gas) on a Bad Boy zero turn.
Only once the mower has been running a few hours, the engine starts to sputter (lags down) and is hard to keep running. Even after turning off PTO.

Tried all the basic stuff - new plugs, new air filters, always good gas, made sure fuel tanks were venting, etc. All which shouldn't make a difference when the mower has been running awhile. Seems to me should run bad cold or hot.

Pulling either plug when it does this and they have fire. That leads me to believe that it may not be the coils.

Anyone have this issue before? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I just had the same issue with my26hp LC kaw On my Hustler super z. (495 hrs) It would run after each plug wire was removed as well. I tried the same fixes you did but in the end I put 2 new coils on and the problem went away. I have put about20 hours on since I put on the new coils and everything is good.

Thanks for the reply.

I work offshore and while I was gone my father-in-law bought two coils after I told him my thoughts. After looking at the mower, he decided it was too big of a job for him to tackle alone (74yo).

I'll be up at my other place this coming week and will attempt to change the coils. Hopefully this will solve the issue.

My only other idea if the problem returns would be the voltage reg. Someone told me if it is faulty and putting out too much voltage, it could cause the firing issues. It's a great mower, just trying to get a handle on this problem.

Thanks again.
