The 257 has been a pain in my ass since the beginning so we're biting the bullet and going for a new one.

Cat has put a bad taste in my mouth because of expense of parts. Plus I'm just not crazy about the 259. And cat is asking the most out of anyone.

Bobcat: id love to have a t590, but the salesman just isn't somebody I want to deal with. (Which is a shame)

John Deere and NH isn't even an option. So I'm down to Takeuchi and case.

I've got a tak excavator and dealer service and support has been great.. The salesman will answer the phone on a Saturday, really a great guy and dealer.

But I've never had any experience with tak or case ctl's.

has anyone else?

I'm a fan of both Takeuchi and Case equipment for the most part, but I really just am having trouble getting on board with the Electric over Hydraulic controls. I'll probably have to for now but this would really push me towards TAK here as the controls are still standard hydraulic pilots. Guess like anything though, it really depends on where pricing would be...

The TR270's have been well received here. I have never spent any real time in one. If this is a new 270, I would consider the new 310. It is a new intermediate size that CASE just came out with. I think it will be more affordable than a 340 since it is lower hp and does not have SCR. You may want to take a look at that model, it will give you more capacity for about the same money I bet.

I mentioned the 310 to the salesman because they had one on the yard and it's a good looking machine.

My concern is width.. He mentioned it came with a 78in wide bucket.. Which is way wider than what I want because I need to stay as narrow as I can to get in outta these yards. I'm not sure how wide it is over the tracks tho

Depends on what you do more of.

I have a radial lift asv rc100 that is easier to grade with but I have to load my 6500 dump with 4' tall wood sides from both sides in order to get an even load.

My vert lift 299d can put material on the driver side of the bed while loading from the passenger side. The reach is that much better.

What are the reach spec differences between the two machines?

I load tandems all the time from one side with all kinds of radial lift machines, 247B, RC-100, TL 10. fill it full on the side you are loading then with your bucket full of material "push" the material that is already in the truck to the other side of the box, this is more of "by feel" action since you can't actually see in the box, but after you have loaded a tandem a few hundred times you'll get the hang of it ;) Its not that hard really, seems like a hard concept to grasp for most guys tho

If you loaded one truck all year, that answers it. Radial would be perfect. An old rule of thumb is if you spend more time from the ground to cab height, go radial. If you spend more time from the cab to up the top of the lift height get a vertical machine.

The problem with pushing material over is some dump boxes are deep so by the time you are able to push it over it is already over loaded, and unstable due to all the weight on one side of the box. I load often with a radial lift, but I much prefer to load with a vertical. You dump to the center of the truck, the weight is centered and it is faster. All that is a nonissue if you don't load a lot of trucks.

The Taks are more narrow. I have to believe that would lead to some instablilty to compared to the wider machines but I cant say that from experience.

By cab, you mean top of cab?

Picking up a demo of the tl8 tomorrow so we'll see how it goes. Im really interested in demoing a case..

But I just wanna throw out there that it is very frustrating that I want a bobcat but I know it'll never work with the current salesman
