The rest of your post is right, but these two sentences leave me puzzled.
For someone that doesn't want to post much on this site, you sure try hard to be here huh? Six times at least huh?

Chuck's right, his post is right on target.

so when did i ever say i was just going to do what i want and not listen to what anyone said. Why are you assuming that i am going to work under the table reguardless of what anyone says. i'm mostlikely going to get all of the requirements to work. Why do you keep assuming that i'm not going to listen to 20 people telling me the exact same thing?

do you know how many people your age have come to this site in the 2 years i have been here asking the same thing you are??

alot and half seem to stick to there method and fail.

im only trying to offer help here.i mean the first few guys that posted in this thread bashed yah.i think i was the second person who gave you good advise not counting chuck.

yeah that pizza crap would make me mad too if i was doin what your starting to do.

THEKINGNJ,

Go far it, im a highschool student that ran a business like that, it worked out great, and no problems at all. I only had 10 lawns, and it was just cash only. I didn't go by a company name, it was just me and a friend. We just put flyers out and cut wiht a 32" toro and a 21" pos. Its great for college and highschool kids to make some cash. And for all you "Professionals" out there. IF you guys are doing such a great job, you shouldnt have to worry about people like us. You guys have way more advantages to getting lawns than us. Its not like were trying to take over the industry. At least we dont hire illegal immigrants for 6 cents an hour.

You dont want to hear RANT RANT RANT Well guess what you come hear asking a dumbazz ? and I'll tell you why its a dumbazz? Read your post above, you mow on a golf course for 4 yrs do you think they have ins.? You have a 52 scag and are gonna get a 48 for most people on this board that says I'm going to mow, "I didn't say i was currently working without anything" then why would you even ask if you already have it. Would you wait till you had a car wreck to get auto ins.?If your in college its time to grow up and quit wasting peoples time:angry

And since you brought this up I feel you should at least have a few facts.
#1 You did not run any kind of business! your a minor you can't own a business you own nothing your parents own and they let you use
#2There are no professionals out here that are worried about you! You are the neighborhood kid that mows a few yds for pocket money. If we were worried about you a simple call put your mowing to an end. its illegal for you to run power equipment and by the time you get your work permit and have an adult supervise you and carry ins on you you would be charging more than the professionals.
#3 You don't hire illegal or legal or anyone see #1 above

:nono:

TheKingNJ is 18, he can get in a lot of trouble taking advice from a 16 year old. 16 year olds can get by with stuff like that because they are minors. The home owner would be in big trouble if a 16 year old got hurt. 16 year olds are not mature enough to run power equipment, (that's why there is a law that says they can't) let alone give business advice to adults.

Kingbman1, stick to playing with Lego's and eating Cotton candy. Then when you grow up you can come out and play with the big boys.

mikegamb, little kids playing grown up is why I don't like to post on this site. But you have to admit that LawnSite still has a lot to offer.

I'm in Sussex county new jersey. Newton/ Sparta area.

I had a very large post to send but got to thinking about it and it isnt worth it!!!!! from reading what has already been posted and kings responce it seems like he has a attitude which is just like alot of kids his age .... he knows it all no matter what the older generation has to say. enough said at this time

Suggest you spend a $100 or so for an hours worth of advise from a good CPA.
This person will be on top of all issues for your area, and should be able to offer some quality tips on licensing, etc.
You may very well find that the CPA will become your newest best friend, mine has saved me much MUCH more than his fees have ever been.
You'll also need to use CPA for end of year tax prep.

Running a legit biz is not all bad, there are many advantages to running on top of the table. Again, the CPA will clue you in on many 'how to's' and some do's and don'ts.

Why do you think i have an additude and i'm not listening? when did i ever say i'm not going to listen to 20 people saying the same thing? when did i say i'm going to ignore the responces to your questions and still not get any permits or insurance? why do you keep trying to rip me a new one for something i didn't do yet and something i probally won't do.

and for all you people who keep complaining about kids who work under the table are taking money out of your pockets that is business, there is Competition . If you turn them in to eliminate the competition that is tough for the cuz that is also busines

we complain about kids working under the table because it lowers the publics view of us and for one we cant set a standard rate for cutting and services because YOUNG adults come in and will do the work for half of what a pro will . most havent half the bills we do such as 50,000.00 worth of euipment insurances permits and wife kids and house payments ect all they want is beer and party money . I for one dont want to be know as a low life lawn boy , i am a pro and want to be treated as such . Working for a gold course is a heck alot different than owning you own lco and doing it right , you are in for one big wake up call . king says its just business but wait till he gets beat out on a bid by a low baller or scrub and watch him cry !!!! we can just tell him ITS JUST BUSINESS

why do you think i'm going to be one of those kids that are going to lower the quality of the buesiness. I got a bran new 16 foot enclosed trailer that is going to be painted with my logo and and am going to have mower just as quality as yours. and since i don't have a wife and kids and a house payment i am going to lowball everyone. i will do just as quality job as all of you and mybe even better because i don't know the business well enough to know where i can cut corners. i am going to lowball everyone cuz all i need is my 22k a year to pay for college. I am happy as long as i'm making better money then i am now and if someone lowballs me, they can have my work cuz they are a better man then me to work as cheap labor.
