Thinking of cutting this 3 inch angled corner off the discharge chute to Improve dispersal. Looked up a few threads but wondering if I should or not some said success others stated it lost vacuum. It's not an extreme change so it shouldnt change vacuum much but also don't want to weaken rigidity. John Deere Wh48a. Same as the gravely pro walk before recent redesign

In the early spring when the grass is thick and growing you shouldn't see much difference. As the season wears on and the grass becomes more wispy the cut may not be as crisp, especially at cutting heights 3.5" or more. One thing you might do is save the piece you intend to remove and see if you can fabricate a bracket should you want to reinstall.

Was changing blades And starting to work on installation of grass flap and seen that there and thought it might help a bit this mower is alright at discharge but there is definitely room for improvement. All this rains got me cleaning 10 pounds of grass up under deck. Finished last lawn in the rain Friday.

Your right if I cut it off better keep it just in case.

OP- cutting that out will do nothing for improving discharge IMO. The deck wold probably be more than stout enough without it, but it is there for a reason, which is to add strength to the rear side of the chute opening when going over obstacles like tree roots etc. If you snag the lower rear corner of the opening, or if you have a rear gauge wheel there and it gets snagged in between roots etc, or takes an impact from some other source it is possible that you could cause damage or tweak the rear corner of the deck. If you watch your discharge, most of it comes out at the front of the opening anyway, so like I said, removing that will most likely not show any improvement whatsoever..

Here's my baffle. It was designed to sorta mimic the Scag Turbo baffle. It is there to prevent the clippings from being re-circulated around the right blade chamber. In some cases it does spread the clippings out better, and in others, it doesn't do much of anything. It is like blades.....you have to pick the right one for the conditions, and so it is with the turbo baffle.
