I am new here and wanted to share my new frankenstein creation with you some of you that are fans of the bed red-definers. I have a Stihl Kombi KM130R unit with the redefiner head for it. I mainly use it the year after I rented a pull type bed edger. NO new edge installs with the redefiner....at least until now. I have looked at the Echo units over and over because of the cutting blade design with the three teeth. My Stihl does fine removing debris and soil that has just settled in the last year in the edge. Finally I have worn down my blade to the point of replacement. A buddy of mine recently purchased the Echo and we decided to take it apart and just see if the blade would fit. It fits. I ended up having to add a washer to be able to tighten the bolt up enough due to the thickness difference of the blades. My 36cc KM130R loves this new blade and I have created 100's of feet of new edge this season already. Sorry echo but 28cc isn't enough. My Stihl hardly even changes tone when I sink down.

Really Good to know! I have thought about trading blades but never tried it.
Any pictures of what it'll do now with the Echo Blade??

Ill try and take some this week. Everything ive edged, ive mulched already. It does a much better job of putting debris in the bed and not in the edge. The stihl actually does a lot better with the Echo head than the actual echo does lol.

Could I buy a Edger Attahment for stihl kombi & put a Bed Redifiner blade on it? Or would that mess up the edger (gear wise)?

I gotcha, idk If there's anyone on here who's tried this or know if that would work.?

Update:
I bought one of the echo claws and put it on my kombi bed redefiner attachment. It works great. No adjustments necessary. No pics of the work for now but it made the bed redefiner attachment 10x more usefully. I am running it on a KM130R though. I might hesitate to run it on my KM85R just because of the power. For the photos it's the Stihl blade in the first ones and the Echo claw in the last couple.

Is that the edger attachment or the bed redefiner? It looks like the regular edger.

Bed redefiner. They are similar but the gearing is different.
How much was the blade and where did you get it?
The blade was $90 and I bought it from an Echo dealer.
It is 10x better because it is not only useful for edging beds in good condition but also beds in poor condition. Also the Stihl blade is worthless for making new beds but the Echo one can be used for new beds.

Looks like the cutter sticks out past the guard the echo guard is wider , just a heads-up even the echo full guard flings some serious stones and it will cut anything ie pipes, irrigation, wires in a secondThumbs Up:)
