So is there that much difference in terms of ride between the OEM Toro seat you provided a picture of and the previous OEM Toro seat I own? When I purchased mine several seasons ago it was the only suspension seat Toro offered, which is the Milsco V-5300 seat.

And is there enough difference between the ZTR Puffer and the newer model of Toro suspension seat for me to try and cancel my order? (Which looks identical to the Scag Turf Tiger II seat.)
The puffer works great if you can not get that Toro seat I posted. An it is the same or very similar to the one's Scag puts on their machines.

Well, I ended up looking at a variety of other comparable mowers to my Toro G3 X-Master and realized that I love cut, durability and power of my mower, just not the ride. So I just purchased a ZTR Puffer in a dire attempt at keeping my mower, which I have tricked out over the past five years to suite my needs, and not having to endure the buying / selling / monthly payment routine on a new one. If this doesn't work, I'm out $60 bucks for shipping both ways and I'll surrender to the concept of buying a new one. For those in a similar situation, I'll post a review in the weeks ahead.
This is just a follow up to me mounting and testing a Puffer seat on my Toro Z-Master (74925). The seat arrived promptly and installation was easy. I think the overall time to install was less than 30 minutes.

I immediately noticed how higher I sat on the machine. I knew it would increase ride height 3 inches, but this felt far higher. And I mean like awkwardly high. I have the Toro handles adjusted all the way up and at full speed the handles would hit the back of my thighs. I tested it on different inflation levels, different terrain and at different speed. The ride did improve but only slightly over the older Milsco suspension seat I previously had installed. As the Puffer compressed to absorb shock the seat frame seemed to stroke forward. I won't say it wants to throw you forward, but it is a forward and down motion. This forward movement feels different than a typical suspension seat.

Overall, factoring the awkward ride height and not substantially improving the ride over my current suspension seat on my machine, I sent it back. ET Air Ride was great to work with and promptly refunded my money minus a shipping cost of $30.

Admittedly I think I was trying to do something that just isn't going to be accomplished with how my ZTR is built. It's rough, and always will be rough. The Puffer may work for many applications, but not mine. For me it's on to a different mower, perhaps a Ferris, in the spring.

Any incite on how the Puffer or deluxe Toro seat compares with their (Toro) MyRide system? I'm looking to move to a ZTR and my wife does some cutting. She has some pretty good neck issues, and my lower back isn't the best anymore. I know that inherently a ZTR is going to be a bit rougher just by the physics, but if one of these options significantly outperforms the other then that will be considered. I'm not looking to spend a ton on a mower, ideally I'd like to be in the 3-5K range. But if I'm having to choose between 4k for a meh ride then spend a few hundred more for a decent seat - or 5k for something factory that is superior - Then I'd spend a little more. If that makes sense... Kind of the same equation for the EZT vs the 2800's. Unless it's like 2k cheaper, I'm going to go with something other than the EZT, lol.

I guess I should also ask if there is a better solution at that price range (solution being a good ZTR with a comfortable ride)? I'm a fan of Toro overall, but, I've also found their not necessarily the best option in zero turns at the 5k mark. I do not want to buy a used machine. A stand or walk behind isn't an option due to bad knees... man getting old sucks, lol.

I can tell you from my experience there isn't much difference between the Puffer and the previous model of Toro's deluxe suspension seat, the Milsco V5300 / Michigan seat I think. I can't speak for the current model with the round dial. With the Puffer you will sit higher than you do with other suspension seats. It's high enough for me that it felt really odd, and my control sticks rubbed my thighs despite being fully extended. Also the downward suspension stroke seems to feel like it's bucking you forward out of the seat.

My experience on ZTRs is limited, but I can tell you there are far better ride options out there than the model of Toro I have. It's horrible. And I never fully realized this until I drove my neighbor's Bad Boy Outlaw XP. The difference was amazing. With that said, I have no vested interest in Bad Boy, nor do I know that much about them aside from the pros / cons listed on this forum and our local dealers of other brands bad mouthing them.

Thanks MTA73. I think I'm quickly finding that the Toro is not what I am looking for. Seems like it's over priced for the quality anyway.
Sitting higher is not something I really want either, and bucking forward as I've read a few reports of here, doesn't sound like something I would want. I'm sure it's better than springs on metal, and probably not as big of a deal as I imagine it - but, I think if I have to go with an add on seat it will probably not be the Puffer. Which is exactly what I needed to learn.

Thanks for the incite, and I've seen a few different positive opinions on the Bad Boy Outlaws. Sounds like they are probably in the running for me. I have a separate post about mower selection so I won't spam it here. Thanks!
